WSU Comm Week Continued

Today was a perfect day for staying inside and listening to lectures all day. I'm kind of bummed that I didn't get to hear Bryan Monroe's lecture called "Front Pages to Home Pages to my Current Life Between the Covers" since I had my Spanish test this morning, but I was able to listen to his "Oprah, Obama, Michael Jackson & Me" lecture this afternoon.

But, I'm getting ahead of myself...

Bill Roy from the Wichita Business Journal and Jim Kobbe of KSN Sports gave us tips on improving our writing. There were a lot of helpful hints given, and I believe that even if you are not going into journalism you could use the hints & tips that were given in this lecture.

After the pizza party in Elliot Hall everyone trekked back to the RSC for Bryan Monroe's lecture. Bryan is the VP/Editorial Director of Ebony and Jet magazines. He gave a rather interesting view on the business, as well as showing us the importance of brainstorming in large groups. One of the things that he said (and that I need to remember) is that "sometimes it's about what feels right - there's no one 'right' answer."

Stay tuned for more,
Elle
