WSU Social Media Panel

Today kicked off Wichita State University's Communications Week (although, technically, it's only three days long since Fall Break happens on Thursday and Friday). Being an IMC major, I was entirely too excited for this week. In fact, ever since our first day of visual technologies when Amy DeVault let us know about it, I've been thinking about it and waiting for it to finally happen.

Today's panel was entitled "Are You Socializing or Working?" Here's the skinny from the flyer:
From blogs and Twitter to Facebook and LinkedIn, professional communicators are tapping into social media. Find out how local professionals are utilizing social media in their work.
The panelists were Suzanne Tobias from the Wichita Eagle, Todd Ramsey from the Greteman Group and Shawn Hillferty from KWCH/CW. Most of the time was spent talking about Twitter and how it can be used to reach a broader audience as well as further your company's business.

Todd Ramsey, who runs The Todd Blog, did most of the talking and told us about the book Groundswell. I won't get into all of the points here, because if you really wanted to know about it, you would have been there yourself.

I guess the point is that today was very informative, and I'm glad that I was there to hear what Suzanne, Todd and Shawn had to say. They were all very informative, and it was nice to hear the inside scoop on how to use social networking sites to our advantage.

Stay tuned for more,
Elle
